Welcome to the Open Access Australasia website

Aotearoa Scholarly Communication Community of Practice (ASCCOP)

Who are we?

Kia ora, welcome to Aotearoa Scholarly Communication Community of Practice (ASCCOP).

ASCCOP is a platform to facilitate information sharing and collaboration between those who work or have an interest in Scholarly Communication in Aotearoa.

Why join?

Flexibility –  Attend just the overarching community of practice, just one sub-group’s meetings or come to everything!

Share information – Learn from the experience of others or ask questions and get the community’s help.

Keep up to date – find out what others are up to around the motu.

Network – we’re a small country and this is a great way to build connections with others who share the same professional interests.

Low key – All aspects of the group are friendly, informal, free and open to all

How it works

The ASCCoP is an overarching Community of Practice that acts as a forum for Scholarly Communication practitioners.

It supports and facilitates a series of subgroups based on specific interests. Subgroups are entirely self-governed and driven by the needs of each group. Group coordinators are practitioners in this area from across Aotearoa.

Meetings

The overarching ASCCoP meets quarterly.

Subgroups meet at the frequency and mode that suit their members.

Options

Members can choose to:

  • Participate only in subgroups of direct relevance to their work
  • Participate only in the quarterly meetings, to gain oversight of current issues and participate in general discussion
  • Participate in both subgroups and the overarching group
