There is a growing trend towards open access in research and academia both in Australia and internationally. Most recently, CSIRO announced that it would transition to an OA model for its research in scientific journals. The organisation has entered into agreements with publishers to publish CSIRO science for readers to access for free. Open Access Australasia (formerly the Australasian Open Access Strategy Group (AOASG)) have long played a pivotal role in driving the shift towards open access. They and works to make Australasian research Open and FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) and to promote open scholarship and innovation. In session, both CSIRO and OAA will discuss the shift to OA and some of the considerations moving to this model.
