Welcome to the Open Access Australasia website

Graduate Researchers engage with open access and create an open video resource

By Eleanor Colla, University of Melbourne.

We are excited to announce that the international Visualise Your Thesis (VYT) programme for 2024 has launched!

VYT provides an opportunity for institutions from across the world to showcase their graduate
research and for the participants to build essential information and digital literacy skills to effectively
communicate complex research to a general audience via a 60-second video. Facilitated by the
University of Melbourne and now in its sixth year on the international stage, participating in VYT
allows Graduate Researchers (GRs) to engage with several elements of the researcher lifecycle,
becoming a launching place for various activities pertinent to many stages of their current and future careers.

As VYT videos are made publicly available, allocated a DOI, and are searchable via the Figshare
repository, GRs not only learn more about elements of open access publishing and research
dissemination but actively contribute to this.

EOIs and formal registrations for 2024 are now open. Institutions have until June 4 th to formally
register to run a local programme with their local winner representing their institution on the
Visualise Your Thesis International stage.
