Seal of approval for Open Access Journals

The DOAJ Seal is a mark of certification for open access journals, awarded by DOAJ to journals that achieve a high level of openness and adhere to Best Practice and high publishing standards.  There are seven criteria which a journal must meet to be eligible for the DOAJ Seal. These relate to best practice in long term preservation, use of persistent identifiers, discoverability, reuse policies and authors’ rights.

DOAJ is a community-curated online directory that indexes and provides access to around 16,600 high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals. Only 9% of journals indexed by DOAJ have been awarded the Seal, and of these only 9 journals from Australia or New Zealand have the Seal.

Three of these are QUT journals:   The International Journal for Crime, Justice and Social DemocracyLaw, Technology and Humans journal and Student Success journalA recent upgrade to the OJS software, which hosts QUT’s open access journals, has meant that all journal issues are now permanently archived in the Keepers Registry.
